The property market has experienced a renewed burst of energy this summer, following the first Bank of England rate cut in four years. Data from Rightmove reveals that the number of buyers contacting estate agents for homes for sale has increased by 19% compared to August 2023. The local market in Watton, Norfolk, has experienced a similar revival according to estate agent Abbotts Countrywide, who is selling 15 refurbished homes by Annington at The Oaks on Tedder Close.
Formerly used to house serving RAF personnel, these homes have been revived by Annington and repurposed for sale on the open market. The first five three-bedroom homes will be available to buy from the 27th September.
Hannah Grist, Assistant Branch Manager at appointed selling agent Abbotts Countrywide, comments: “This August has been our busiest summer month in recent years. We have seen an uptick in enquiries from second steppers and young families, and we’ve had a lot of enquiries from local residents about The Oaks. They’ve seen the signage go up and already know these properties well, either having lived in former MOD properties themselves, or experienced them through friends and family. These homes are really special, set in an established community with a substantial square footage, with large rooms and generous-sized gardens.”
Located on a mature residential square in the Norfolk town of Watton, these homes benefit from a wealth of green space, mature trees, and sprawling green fields that once bordered the historic former RAF Watton base.
All 15 homes have been lightly refurbished by Annington, with new flooring, a fresh coat of paint, and upgrades to the interior – and have since achieved an EPC C rating for energy efficiency. Each property contains a spacious garden to the front and rear, a private garage, and downstairs water closet. These homes sit across a generous footprint, approximately 1180sqft.
Louse Saunders, Head of Sales & Marketing at Annington, said: “These homes are a superb option for those looking to buy in Watton, situated on a leafy residential area in an established neighbourhood. Careful refurbishment works have given these homes a new lease of life, ready for occupation once again. The first five homes will launch this month following extremely high demand in the local community - buyers will struggle to find homes such as these elsewhere, situated on a generous footprint indoors and out.”
Watton is a well-established market town tucked into the rural Norfolk countryside and brimming with history. With a heritage that stretches back to the time of Edward the Confessor, in recent years the town was home to an RAF base and holds one of the oldest one-day agricultural shows in the country each May, which has been running for over 140 years. Within the town itself are a number of supermarkets, schools and nurseries, an art gallery, and independent shops and cafes. Tedder Close is also home to Treetots Playgroup, which operates out of The Families Centre.
Just 30 minutes from Norwich by car, and with Thetford a similar distance to the south, Watton remains well connected through fast road links. Coast and country are within easy access too - Sheringham beach and the protected Blakeney coastline are both within an hour’s drive.
Annington is refurbishing homes at The Oaks in Watton, with the first release of homes launching later this month. Visitors to The Oaks are also invited to make an appointment to view the three-bedroom show home, that has been sympathetically decorated to mirror the natural surroundings. Prices currently start from £235,000 for a three-bedroom home.
