As research reveals that property prices increased by £24,500 on average in 2021*, savvy second steppers can play their cards right in today’s market by maximising profits on their house sale to secure a larger home. Ian and Carly Fletcher were able to upsize from their starter maisonette into a three-bedroom end-terrace at our Mayflower Park development.
Carly and Ian quickly outgrew their two-bedroom maisonette when their son Jacob, now three years old, was born. Carly says: “As you can imagine, life in a ground floor maisonette with a toddler is not always sunshine and rainbows! We only moved a mile down the road to Mayflower Park, but we feel so much more settled here already – we have an extra bedroom, a large garden and a spacious kitchen. It’s perfect.”
Carly adds: “The value of our maisonette had increased by over £70,000 during our six years there, which allowed us to put down a sizeable deposit on our next home. Despite the extra cash, we were on a strict budget and weren’t prepared to pay through the nose for a new build. The homes at Mayflower Park had already been refurbished by Annington, meaning that they felt fresh and clean when we walked in – as good as new, really! The homes offered such good value for money which we would struggle to find elsewhere in the village.”
Carly adds: “We tried to buy from Annington’s first release of homes in Henlow six years ago, but due to such high demand we weren’t successful when we put in an offer. We were so excited when the new homes at Mayflower Park were released – it has been a long wait to get here, but we are so happy in our new home.”
